Add Autumn colors to your containers
Fall is a great time to add perennials to your garden beds and usually with significant discounts. Look for these fall bloomers: ‘Autumn Joy’ Sedum, ‘September Charm’ Anemone, ‘Purple Dome’ Aster, Solidago ‘Fireworks’.
Look for plants like millet, pansies, ornamental kale and cabbage to add a cozy autumn feel to your yard. These will often be more frost tolerant than your summer varieties, allowing your seasonal landscape upkeep to last. You can also add mums to any empty spots in your planting beds for some extra fall flair!
Bring in the fall decor
Add a straw bale to your front porch or at the end of your driveway, and top it with a few pumpkins and gourds. Place some ornamental corn stalks at lamp posts or mailboxes. Hang some baskets and fill them with gourds and dried, preserved green amaranthus or moss. These will get you in the fall spirit! An illusion that you put in a lot of effort toward your landscape when all you did was place them down will carry over to other parts of your yard and create an impressive look to others as well!
Add an outdoor fireplace or pit to sip cider around; put a lamppost near your patio and hang a wreath with orange, yellow, and brown colors; add a stone step walkway around the side yard to connect backyard to front. These different approaches to landscaping will improve your yard appeal and continue your design inspiration throughout the colder months of the year!
